"Mountainside’s Play Acre is designed specifically for kids, creatively blending nature, imagination, and outdoor play. Located just steps from all of Mountainside’s on-mountain properties, families can walk to Play Acre without crossing or walking along roadways. This unique kid space lives within the landscape, and features natural play structures connected by a network of log and stone crafted trails. Stone steps reach the top of a 30-foot stainless steel slide that follows the natural terrain. Log and boulder scrambles let kids test their climbing skills, while an outdoor amphitheater with stage, tiered stone seating, and oversized instruments offers a venue to make music or entertain an audience."
"Take the lift or a quick stroll down to Northstar Village, an all-seasons escape with a dozen dining choices, excellent shopping, a movie theater, and even a full-service wellness center, offering everything from healing sports massages to indulgent facials, yoga sessions and more. The Village also keeps a packed schedule of family-friendly events throughout the year, including group stargazing, retro ice skating nights, mini-golf tournaments, music."
Please note that during the Spring and Fall seasons, when Northstar's winter and summer mountain operations are closed, the Highlands Gondola, Village restaurants and retail outlets run on a modified schedule. Expect limited, or closed, dining and shopping options during these periods - typically between the end of ski season through late June and after Labor Day through mid-November.

County Rules
Each county requires we inform you of the rules and regulations relevant to your home's Short Term Rental Permit. We thank you in advance for abiding by the rules below, also included in your signed in the Vacation Rental Agreement.
- Maximum Occupancy: No gatherings, events, weddings or other group functions with more people than the number of persons stated on your signed agreement are allowed at the property.
- Parking: Parking on the street is prohibited at all times. All cars, boats, and trailers must be parked in the garage and/or driveway.
- Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are 9pm-8am, seven days a week. Noise carries easier and further in higher elevations and over water. Per the ordinance: No sound from the vacation rental home shall be audible from the parcel line during this time. Noise shall be minimized in order that it not be an unreasonable annoyance, disturbance or nuisance to neighbors.
- Lights Out: All exterior lights that are not needed for safety must be turned off between the hours of 10pm-7am, seven days a week. Per the Ordinance: All exterior lights must be turned off that are not needed for safety or other outdoor use to the extent that such other outdoor use is not an unreasonable nuisance to neighbors.
- Red Flag Warnings: Due to extreme fire danger, bonfires, charcoal barbecues and wood-burning fire pits are strictly prohibited. On Red Flag Warning Days, when fire hazards are especially dangerous, typically due to dry conditions and high winds, additional restrictions are imposed by the North Tahoe Fire Protection District and prohibited. You cannot use outdoor gas grills or gas fire pits during Red Flag Warnings. All outdoor fires are prohibited, both gas and wood. It is your responsibility to be informed of Red Flag Warnings. Tune in to 1630AM on the radio; follow North Tahoe Fire Protection District on Facebook or Twitter; or, look for signs in front of all district fire stations. Red Flag Warning days will also be noted on the National Weather Service weather reports. If you ever have questions regarding Red Flag Warnings, please call our office.
Be Bear Aware
Black bears are very common in this area and have become habituated to human food and garbage. Because bears no longer have a strong fear of humans, you may encounter bears during your spring, summer and fall stays. Feeding bears is illegal. Leaving food outside, trash accessible, or doors and windows unlocked is likely to cause significant property damage to homes and to vehicles. Please take a moment to learn how to be Bear Aware, so that we can continue to live in harmony with our wildlife.
Receiving Mail and Packages
The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver to most homes/street addresses in this area, and packages will be returned to sender. If you require a postal delivery during your stay, we recommend FedEx or UPS. If you would like to receive deliveries prior to your arrival, please call our office and arrange to have deliveries made to our office address. Please never have food delivered to the homes, unless someone is in residence to receive the package. Food left outside will attract wildlife and bear activity, which can result in significant damage.
Summer Patio Furniture
Patio furniture is available for your use during summer months only. All outdoor tables, chairs and loungers are put into storage in the fall, in order to protect the furnishings from winter weather. Barbecue grills, however, do remain outside for your enjoyment.
Winter Driving
Many highways, access roads and/or driveways are steep in Tahoe/Truckee and may be icy in the winter. To ensure your safety, it is critical that during November 1st - April 30th brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater and exhaust system are in top condition. Tires need to be properly inflated and the tread must be in excellent condition. Always carry tire chains, even if driving an AWD/4WD vehicle. Make sure the chains are the proper size for your tires and are in working order. You may find valuable winter driving tips from the CHP here.
Office Holiday Hours
The TLUXP office is closed on New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate check-ins and check-outs on these dates. Thank you for understanding.
