One of the many magical aspects of Lake Tahoe is that each season brings its own unique colors, activities, tastes & traditions. And fall time in Tahoe is no different. While Lake Tahoe may be famed for world-class skiing and summertime boating, autumn is one of Tahoe's best kept secrets, with vibrant foliage, perfect temperatures for hiking and biking, quieter restaurants and a general calm for ideal relaxation. Discover why we love the fall season so much, and plan your visit.
Incline Village
Nestled just below Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe, Incline Village is just a few miles away from the mountain meadows at the base of the ski area, known for the plethora of aspens that fill the meadow, sprinkled throughout the mountain sides. Mount Rose Meadows offer a magnificent display of fall foliage. For a hike the whole family can enjoy, the Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Loop is a 1.3 mile trail, considered easy, and dog-friendly (dogs must be on a leash). For a more challenging hike, try the Tahoe Rim Trail starting at the Tahoe Meadows. Popular with mountain bikers and hikers looking for a challenge, make your destination Marlette lake, where the aspens thrive and the fall foliage is truly glorious (see our gallery below!). A shorter (but still challenging) route for hikers to access Marlette Lake is to start at Spooner Lake State Park.
After enjoying all the fall sights, head down from the mountains and indulge in delicious food and specialty cocktails from Lone Eagle Grill. Dine on a lavish meal and sip on a decadent drink at this lakefront restaurant, and experience the taste and views of fall in Incline Village. While popular for those seeking apres delights or a romantic night out, the Lone Eagle Grill also offers a kids' menu, inviting families to relax and enjoy.
Return home to one of our Incline Village vacation rentals to cozy up by the fire, or soak in the hot tub under the alpenglow sky.
