Sunnyside Resort, West Shore Cafe, Jake's on the Lake, Chambers Landing Bar & Restaurant, and the Bridgetender will all have deck-opening parties to mark the start of the season. Events: 27th Annual Cushing Crossing Pond Skim at Squaw Valley
Celebrity judges rank costumed participants as they attempt to ski across the water. Filled with big spills and laughable thrills, the Cushing Crossing is a springtime tradition. Sunday, May 28. Event kicks off at 1pm, awards at 3pm at the KT Base Bar. Free.
Shopping: Support Local Artists and Businesses
Made in Tahoe Festival celebrates all things local. The festival features live music and performances on three stages, as well as over 100 local vendors offering food, drink, and artisan goods that are made or inspired in the Lake Tahoe Basin and Truckee areas. Located at the Village at Squaw Valley. Saturday & Sunday, 11am-7pm.
Tahoe Mountain Sports hosts a huge parking lot sample sale on Saturday, May 27 from 8am-3pm. Reps from many brands empty their storage units and offer the best deals you can't find in stores on everything from running and hiking shoes to outdoor clothing, backpacks, and camping gear. This event is open to the public and there is no admission fee.
