Cushing Crossing Pond Skim at Squaw Valley
May 4: Head to the Spring Skiing Capital for thrills and spills. Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows hosts the annual Cushing Crossing at the base of the Squaw Valley ski area. This pond skim is judged by a celebrity panel, with comical emcees and even more comical competitors. Competitors are encouraged to dress in their wackiest outfits, and to skim the pond on skis or snowboards (or any other winter sport equipment). Where else is there a chance that you’ll see Sasquatch or Marilyn Monroe zoom across a pond on skis? This Tahoe tradition is fun for the competitors and is also a hilarious family-friendly event to spectate.
