This past weekend Tahoe Luxury Properties returned as the presenting sponsor of the 49th annual Lake Tahoe Concourse d'Elegance, North America’s premier wooden boat show. Obexer's Boat Company had the marina filled with some of the most well-preserved and restored wooden boats in the world. The Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance is unrivaled in its exhibition and preservation of maritime tradition, and what a show it was!
As always, the two-day event is packed with fabulous food, delicious drinks, luxurious shopping, and, of course, the main attraction, an unparalleled collection of the most exquisite wooden boats. In fact, boat owners from all over the country flock to Lake Tahoe to proudly present their pristine works of art. And guests from as far as Italy came to participate in the week's worth of events.
This year, the show centered around Boats of the 1960s, showcasing an era of change in boats when fiberglass was first introduced and boats were being designed to mimic the style of autos. No boats were the same, and each boasted exceptional restorations.
"Best of Show" was awarded to Perlita Too, a 1953 Riva that was the first ever Riva in the U.S. Delivered by Carlo Riva himself to Hollywood producer, Roland Reed, the Perlita Too is credited with bringing Rivas to popularity in the states. Found in a barn in 1989 and impeccably restored, this was her first ever boat show. And what an impression she made!
Tucker, a 1956 20' Chris-Craft won the "People's Choice" award. The beautifully restored mid-length, open utility design was a crowd pleaser. And the story that the ashes of Tucker the cat, after which this boat was named, are in the transom paint spelling out his name, won over people's hearts.
Once again, we are proud to support the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation and this remarkable event that is truly more than just a show. It is a lifestyle.
Take a look at our slideshow below and make your plans to visit next year, August 9-10, 2024 for the 50th Anniversary! In honor of this celebration, the show will feature past winners of the famous Jordy Carlton Overall Best of Show trophy that was first handed out at Chambers Landing in 1973. The boats bestowed with the honor of the Tahoe 'Best of Show' title have been invited to participate in the 2024 Marque Class. It will be a 'Best of the Best' kind of show, and we can not wait to see the display!
