Here at Tahoe Luxury Properties we are incredibly excited to spread the news of two iconic North Lake Tahoe ski areas joining forces.
Squaw Valley officially announced today that they have agreed to combine operations with Alpine Meadows to create an exciting new North Lake Tahoe skiing destination. This merger allows skiers and riders to enjoy both mountains with just one season pass or lift ticket. Your 2011-2012 Squaw or Alpine season pass is now valid at both, essentially doubling the fun for the upcoming winter season.
Also announced today was the opportunity to purchase the Tahoe Super Pass. This pass is a great value for the area with prices starting at just $439, valid at both resorts. The official release from The Associate Press early this morning stated that the two ski resorts will remain under their current identities, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, but will be owned and operated by the parent company Squaw Valley Ski Holdings LLC. This combination, although they will not be connected by ski lifts, will expand guests access to over 6,000 skiable acres across eight mountain peaks.
With Mammoth Mountain in the Easter Sierra offering 3,500 acres, and Vail Resort in Colorado offering 5,289 acres, this increase in places Squaw and Alpine at the top of the list for terrain and value in North America. This also comes with Squaw Valley's $50 million five year capital improvement plan for 2 new chairlifts, improvements to the village, and many other customer driven services. Fall events are in full swing in North Lake Tahoe, and the news of the merger has made us even more excited for the upcoming winter season.
