Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance Gar Wood August 12 - 13
Ahoy mates! Tahoe Luxury Properties is pleased to be a sponsor of North America’s premiere wooden boat show, the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, again this year at the Sierra Boat Company Marina in Carnelian Bay, August 12-13, 2011.
This annual event brings wooden boat aficionados from all over the country to view some of the finest wooden boats gathered in one place. This year, in addition, to the classic wooden boats, the marquee class, “Gar Wood - the Gentleman’s Runabout,” will be a selection of the luxurious and powerful boats that were first introduced in 1922 by inventor, industrialist and record‐setting speedboat racer Garfield A. Wood. The official website of the Concours d’Elegance states that this year will be a great chance to see the “aristocrats of motorboats” and are a fan favorite.
In addition to beautiful boats, this event also features great food, live music, and the opportunity to take a ride on one of the 85 wooden boats on display. Proceeds from the Concours d’Elegance, which is presented by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, are donated to local charitable and educational organizations that serve to enhance maritime skills and education in the Lake Tahoe Basin. According to Dave Olsen of the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, last year’s event raised over $250,000 for local maritime groups and organizations.
