The California Department of Water Resources conducted their first snow pack survey of the Tahoe Basin yesterday. The snowpack to start the Lake Tahoe 2010/2011 winter season is currently 198% of normal. This is not entirely surprising, given the early season snow storm totals that our Tahoe ski resorts are boasting.
DWR director Mark Cowin noted that, “this boosts our hopes that we will have an adequate water supply for our cities and farms as we continue to shake off effects of the 2007-2009 drought.” We are excited to share this terrific new for the states of California and Nevada and especially Lake Tahoe. With a bluebird powder day today and more snow in the forecast hopefully these numbers stay high for the rest of the season.
Plan your Tahoe ski vacation and book your Tahoe cabin today. Make sure you experience all this snow!
