One of the most amazing transformations to witness is a snow storm moving across Lake Tahoe. Clouds become caught over the high peaks of Desolation Wilderness as if the earth-trapped granite reaches up to catch ethereal life-giving sails that remain far too elusive during summer. After some time, storm clouds break free of the mountains' grasp and surge over the lake toward the east shore's massive towers before dissipating over The Great Basin. This tumultuous journey is a beautiful one to watch.:
