Famed as Tahoe's premiere mountain biking trail, the Flume Trail is frequently recognized as one of the nation's most scenic mountain bike rides, offering specatular panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierras.
Located on Tahoe's east shore, this trail is popularly ridden with a starting point of Spooner State Park and an ending point of Tunnel Creek by the historical Ponderosa Ranch. A shuttle service is available to drive you back to your car at Spooner State Park for a $15/person fee.
Riding the most popular route, expect a 13 mile ride with starting with a five mile climb to Marlette Lake. Then experience the overwhelming beauty of the area as you jump on the single track with unhindered views. This is a true singletrack, built in to the mountainside, with somewhat steep drop offs. But don't be scared, this trail is frequenly ridden by young and old, novice and pros alike. After the level singletrack, enjoy a long fast downhill back to Tunnel Creek, which now has a cafe and a bike shop with rentals as well as shuttles available.
